This game was made for the O2A2 Jam 2025, a micro Visual Novel jam with strict asset limitations and a 1000 word limit.
Also we'll make an enhanced version for the Yaoi Jam 2025 soon!

🧊 Synopsis

It's a sweltering summer midnight.

You open the refrigerator, searching through the nearly empty shelves for something to fill your stomach.

That's right, you just want a midnight snack.

So how did it ever come to this?

The Sweethearts 🧊

Male | 26 years old | 176 cm

A talented freelance music creator, often keeping irregular hours and living on a reversed schedule. Those around him say he lacks emotional intelligence.

He has a childhood friend, closer than anyone else. But one month ago, that friend died.

Male | 26.5 years old | 188 cm

The childhood friend who died accidentally a month ago.

In life, he was a popular and strikingly charismatic model, effortlessly admired by people of all genders, and bound by no limits. He was not exactly known for being easy to get along with.

  • 1000 words & 4 endings
  • 1 illustration
  • 1 ambient background noise
  • 1 (non-GUI) sound effect

Languages: English, 简体中文

Warnings 🧊

(And spoilers...?)
  • Murder
  • Body horror

Note:

Due to the limitations of the O2A2 jam, this version of the game includes some special code to stay within the rules. You can learn more about it here.

As a result, clicking doesn't always work to progress the dialogue. If that happens, try clicking somewhere else instead—preferably the upper half of the screen.

This issue will be fixed in the upcoming Yaoi Jam version. Thanks for your understanding!

Oh incredibly cleaver framing and UI. SO clever! Realy enjoyed this entry to the jam!

Oh I didn't know the rating part and the comment part are different, so I gonna put my rating text in here as well! (Except for details that may influence other people's playing experience.)

I was totally fasinated by the cute UI and figures in the game!!! The high contrast color palette and the dotted shadow form a special style together, and I love it! It looks like 2000s vintage style for me.

Btw, I also met the problem that the clicking doesn't work and i found sometimes the second line of subtitles border is not completely covered. Other than that, everything works perfectly. I spent some time to figure out what to choose to go to different ending. I would say it is very playable as a micro Visual Novel game❤️

Yes the clicking issue is kinda inevitable if we want to stay within the rules of O2A2 jam and hence must use some special code. That should be fixed in the Yaoi version, so sorry about that! As said in the notes, clicking the top part of the screen or using auto forward should help.

Glad you liked it!💝

Ooooh, okay, it was a very interesting game to play! First of all, I really loved the art style and direction, be it the shapes, the colour palette or even the voice acting, who was a perfect pick for Akira!

Now, when it comes to the story, I had fun exploring the different options, and I didn't expect the twist at first! Now, it raises more questions about the lore and the relationship Akira and Akihito had, and I'm looking forward to yaoi jam to find out! Thanks for making this game!

There's definitely a lot more going on beneath the surface between Akito and Akira! Though we are not really expending the scale of the game for the yaoi jam, but yes we will surely think about how to add a bit more info about their past and relationship in the new content!

We're actually preparing a dev bundle (for our Patreon) including a script note with context of every single line, which will surely reveals much more about the lore and their background stories etc.

And thank you so much for playing! Glad you enjoyed it!☺️

Hi, I’m the artist and scriptwriter Norika. The script and art/GUI were done in fairly short time so please forgive any tiny mistakes or flaws. It’s just a nice little midnight snack. Hope you enjoy!

haha she just registered for this game! if you like it, send her some love!💌

OMG! This game was SO GOOD!! 🥰🥰 SO short but SO well done!! I admit I had troubles to make it progress at first bc the clicking didn’t work! But I solve it by using the Auto Forward option! 😁🫡

I have to say that showing which items you click during the game to show which ending you got is such a smart idea!!! Super nice detail and also, like with Taisho Romance Theatre, the GUI is SO GORGEOUS here as well!! ⭐😋 This was a real pleasure to read, so congratz!!✨✨

Yes we're really sorry about the clicking issue as we just didn't find a better way of dealing with it😓, so have to ask players to try clicking somewhere else or, as you did, use the auto-forwarding.

The idea of the ending screen as well as the GUI design come from our brilliant & talented artist Norika👏 And I'll give myself credit for implementing them in code haha.

Anyway, so glad you like the game! It's just always pleasant to see those postive feedbacks. Also thank you for all the support and kind words.🥰
